The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Dozens of children from San Carlos, Heredia, and Guácimo received the tools they need to enable them to continue studying.

This assistance came from donations of the first Business Career “I run for children to study,” benefit, which is organized by the Costa Rican Union of Chambers and Associations of Private Business Sector (Uccaep), in coordination with the help of La Soledad Church.

Each package includes large notebooks, colored pencils, graphite pencils, pens, crayons, a sharpener, eraser, scissors and backpack.

“We reiterate the call to Costa Ricans to join this initiative, which seeks to promote education as one of the most important ways to combat poverty in our country,” said Shirley Saborio, executive director of the Union of Chambers.

Priest Carlos Humberto Rojas, pastor of La Soledad church, added, “In the coming days more supplies will be shipped to regions such as Guatuso, Turrubares and others. But to help more children, we need more people to sign up for the race.”

The next event will be held on Sunday, March 9, from 7:00 am.  It will start and finish at Tower Davivienda in Escazú. The registration fee is ¢10,000 for adults and ¢5,000 for children.
