The National Seismological Network (RSN) reports the month of March had a total of 25 earthquakes shook the country from activity in Coco-Caribbean plates and activity in local faults.
RSN Data reveal that 14 events owe their origin to subduction of the Cocos plate under the Caribbean plate as main areas of seismic activity reports are communities of Samara, Guacimal, Jaco, Quepos, Dominical and Golfito that stand at the top.
11 tremors were caused from local faulting earthquakes, and reports of increased incidence located in Puerto Springs, Golfito, Coto Brus, Orosi and Santa Maria de Dota.
The magnitude of these 25 moderate earthquakes ranged between 3.0 and 5.5 Mw, and consequently no major damage was reported in areas reporting.
