Ubeda, who has also been Rican ambassador in Mexico, will take over in August, when her appointment with the Agency for the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in Latin America and the Caribbean, is finished.
Foreign Minister Enrique Castillo said at a press conference that Ubeda is the ideal person to fill the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs is a career diplomat with 25 years of experience serving the Chancellery.
Ubeda said she will return to San Jose for “foreign policy support excellent, dynamic and successful in the world Costa Rica.”
Ubeda has held various diplomatic posts in Mexico and Argentina and has been a consultant to the United Nations.
