Say Goodbye to Costa Rica’s Exit Tax Counter: After a Three Month Delay the Fee Will Now be Included in Airline Ticket Prices

The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Costa Rica exit tax of $29 will soon be included in the price of an airplane ticket.  The change in fares should have occurred last December 3, 2014, but a system error caused two and half months of delays.

A t least this is the excuse given by the Second Vice President of the Republic, Ana Helena Chacón, to justify this system failure.

The tax is currently being directly processed by Bancrédito counters in the main international airports.

According to Chacón, the problem that occurred had to do with the ExoNet system, which converges different databases for various institutions of the country, which they must in turn provide to the airlines.

The vice president confirmed that the airlines can now gradually include the tax on their tickets. So if a ticket costs $100, it will now cost $129 with tax included.
