Paul Watson of Sea Shepherd Warns South Korea Whalers
Recently South Korea’s government presented to the International Whaling Commission (IWC) conference in Panama that it was considering a whale cull to conduct scientific research.
Paul Watson of Sea Shepherd organization, called by some an “Environmental pirate”, said his organization will be watching and monitoring the South Korean whalers, continuing he said the organizations actions will consist of “being there, intervening, harassing, documenting…”
Watson was recently acquitted in British of charges of releasing tuna apparently owned a Mediterranean Maltese fishing company.
Currently, Watson is awaiting possible extradition in Germany, where he was detained on a warrant for the breech of Costa Rica maritime law. The charges stem from a confrontation on the high seas in 2002 between his ship and a vessel involved in illegal shark finning.
