The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Today Saprissa, Costa Rica’s current national football champion, began their 2015 training with a passion to win a third consecutive CONCACAF title. They will face off against América Mexicano during the quarterfinals in February.
The ‘purple monster’, directed by Coach Jeaustin Campos, resumed practice today after a couple of weeks of rest and celebration after winning their second league title in a row on December 21.
“The expectation is for Saprissa to win the next game. Hopefully in the Champions League we do a good job and make it through to the next round,” goalkeeper Danny Carvajal expressed in a press conference.
The Costa Rican summer soccer tournament will begin January 18 and the series between Saprissa and América Mexicano will be played on February 25, with the first leg at the Ricardo Saprissa Stadium and then on March 4 they head to the Azteca stadium.
Saprissa is the most successful team in Costa Rica with 31 local titles and three CONCACAF championships. (ACAN-EFE)
