The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Costa Rican police has reported that during the festivities in Palmares, 138 people were arrested. Of these, 114 were for the possession of drugs such as crack, marijuana and cocaine.
According to the chief of police in Palmares, Jeff Kelerman, other reasons for apprehensions included alimony payment violators and people with arrest warrants issued by the OIJ. Eight people were also arrested for property crimes and 7 for public disturbances. For those with drugs, there were 111 arrested for marijuana, 42 for cigars, 55 for crack and 17 with cocaine.
Last week, an officer was wounded with a bottle while breaking up a fight, and resulting in a wound that required five stitches.
Most of the arrests occurred on Sunday in different parts of the celebrations, coinciding with the first international concert. (ADN)
