Costa Rica offers a wide variety of activities to keep you busy during vacation.
Either you can just relax on the wonderful beaches or you do a lot of sport exercises. So it is perfect for both sides, this country provides something for every taste.
Swimming
It does not matter if you go the the Pacific Coast or to the Caribbean Coast on your Costa Rica vacation, both coasts are perfect if you want to go swimming. Generally the water has a very nice warm temperature but be aware of the strong currents sometimes.
Surfing
It is nearly everywhere possible to surf, the best spots are at the Pacific Coast, mostly in the North for example Jaco, Tamarindo, Santa Teresa and in the South Dominical. Moreover there are also nice beaches for surfers at the Caribbean Coast for example the beaches around Puerto Viejo.
Diving and Snorkeling
Costa Rica is not the world best place to go diving and snorkeling but two places should not be forgotten because they are very good. Isla del Coco and Isla de Cano are two isles in the Pacific where it is great to dive. A wide variety of fishes and corals are living there.
Kayaking and Rafting
Golfo Dulce is perfect when you want to go kayaking and enjoy the nature at the same time. The water is not wild and perfect for beginners. Nevertheless Costa Rica has also a lot of wild rivers where it is great to go rafting, it is always in a team and a great experience for young and young at heart.
Hiking
It is nearly everywhere possible to go hiking, either you go to a volcano like the Poas, Irazu or Arenal or you decide to walk through the jungle of Monteverde. Moreover it is very important to carry the right equipment, hiking shoes are essential as well as a mosquito spray and comfortable water resistant clothes.
Horseback Riding
Montezuma is a great place when you want to go riding, there are a lot of horse nature lodges. Furthermore it is very nice to go riding in Costa Rica, it is not too expensive and a very comfortable way to see waterfalls and ride along the beach.
