The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Tomorrow, the Foreign Minister of Costa Rica, Enrique Castillo, will start a tour of Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia in order to strengthen political and trade relations with those Asian countries, the government reported today.
“The tour seeks to reaffirm the importance of Costa Rica in its international strategy for the Pacific Alliance,” indicated the Costa Rican Foreign Ministry in a statement.
When in Singapore, the Costa Rican minister will meet with the Deputy Foreign Minister, Zulkifli Masagos, and the Chancellor, K. Shanmugam.
These meetings will cover issues such as the Free Trade Agreement in force between the two countries, along with aviation, culture, education, conservation and preservation of nature, good governance and infrastructure development.
Castillo will be accompanied by Costa Rican Minister of Culture, Manuel Obregon, in order to seek a rapprochement with Singapore, the only country hosting a Costa Rican Embassy in Southeast Asia.
Following his visit to Singapore, Castillo will move to Thailand, then to Vietnam and finally to Indonesia to meet a schedule of activities that has not yet been released by the Foreign Ministry. (EFE)
