The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Although for this weekend is expected average size of the waves levels, some coastal areas will see waves at1.5 meters to 2 meters, said the Center for Research in Marine Sciences and Limnology (CIMAR) at the University of Costa Rica (UCR). But warned we can much higher surf next week.
The oceanographer, Omar Lizano said, in the South Pacific from today until into next week waves are expected to reach 2.4 meters long. However, due to the entry of a background swell on Thursday, the waves will be stronger for Friday where waves could exceed 2.5 meters.
“This phenomenon (will cause) stronger breaks on the coast, so caution is recommended for all small boats out of streams and rivers and complete caution for swimmers,” said Lizano.
Meanwhile, in the Central Pacific swell will remain at the average level through Wednesday.
Cocos Island, the waves could reach a height up to 3 meters on Thursday and Friday.
The expert recommended to vacationers, pay attention to the labeling on the beaches, which indicate the danger to swimmers not to enter the water when ingested liquor, and after meals.
The strong waves throughout next week, is caused by an intense storm that was generated in the South Pacific, which already moved through Central America. CRHOY
