Travelers flying out of San Jose’s Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) just got an unpleasant surprise when it comes to parking: the daily car parking rate has more than doubled, going from $14.75 to $35.24 for 24 hours.
These parking fees are not controlled by the Regulatory Authority of Public Services (ARESEP), because it is outsourced to a private parking company, Aeris Holding Costa Rica SA.
Weekly rates also saw a substantial jump; it now costs $200 whereas before it was only $87.75
The hourly airport parking fee only had a small increase, going from $2.14 to $2.48 per 60 minutes.
Looks like getting a ride from a friend to the airport just became a lot more valuable.
