The Fun Doesn’t Stop in Costa Rica! Palmares Festival Begins on January 14

The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – There’s no lack of festivals to kick off the New Year in Costa Rica.  With the Zapote festivities coming to a close, you can look forward to the 29th Annual Fiestas de Palmares, which opens on January 14.

This year’s schedule includes games, rides, a track meet, Festival Ranchero and live music from international artists.

Diana Vargas, a spokeswoman for the festivities, said the Palmareña Civic Association hired a private security company who will be using camera to monitor and support the police to reduce disturbances and incidents.

The activities begin on January 14 with the lighting of the fairgrounds. On Thursday, January 15 at 7 pm the first of many bullfights start and on Friday there’s a humor festival.

Paquita la del Barrio will perform for the first time in the country on Saturday and on Sunday the group Cultura Profética will play.

The last major concert is on Sunday with the Puerto Rican reggaeton group, Farruko. The festivities end on Monday, January 26th. (ADN)
