The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Dr. Guiselle Lucas Bolivar, director of Health in Limon and Tatiana Cuadra Bermúdez, a youth leader, are very deserving of the Contributions to the Improvement of the Quality of Life 2014 awards they received.
This prize is awarded by the Office of the Ombudsman, the four public universities and the National Council of Rectors. They seek to recognize the work of individuals, public entities and others that positively impact the quality of life of people living in Costa Rica.
Dr. Bolivar was recognized for her work to articulate an interagency commission which helps to improve the social and environmental conditions of the indigenous community of Tayni Cabécar in Limon.
Tatiana Cuadra Bermúdez received the award for implementing good environmental practices through projects such as recycling and cleaning rivers in Palmares.
Honors were also presented to the Laboratory of Water Resources Management (Lamrhi) of the National University, in the category of public body for its support to communities in the protection and proper management of surface water resources by generating knowledge, proposing solutions to identified problems, and through education.
The award in the category of civil society organization went to the Association for the Integral Development of La Fortuna (Adifort) for setting an example of efficient and sustainable development that looks after the welfare of the population through conservation projects, natural resources, education, roads, and community beautification.
