According to the Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) they invested 62,300 million colones buying fuel for electricity generation in thermal energy sources following an intense dry season.
ICE said they acquired a total of 56 million liters of diesel, and made the purchase of 83 million liters of bunker fuel.
The Services Regulatory Authority (ARESEP), said that huge investment was because of the dry season, and Costa Ricans are feeling a real impact rate for electric service .
In January data indicate that regulatory authority had an adjustment rate of 12% in favor of ICE and in April was a new adjustment of 3.25%. In December 2012 the adjustment was 2%, which accumulated a 17.25% overall increase in the rate of the electricity bill.
