    If you go on vacation, enlist in your suitcase mosquito repellent, as the Ministry of Health declared a state of emergency in 31 counties of the country by the presence of the mosquito Aedes aegypti, which transmits a dangerous combo of diseases like dengue, Zika and chikungunya which can cause malformations in babies and sometimes even death.

    Among the counties with higher risk of infection include districts of greater tourist potential in Guanacaste, Puntarenas and Alajuela. The Ministry of Health reports that only last week chikungunya cases rose from 1167 to 1037, i.e. there are 283 more patients. In the case of dengue the situation is more worrying as 443 new infections passing from 4422-4865 were reported. The country has 8 Zika indigenous cases that have been reported.
    The ranking of the provinces with the highest number of sick individuals include Puntarenas with 538, second with 372 is Alajuela, and Guanacaste ranks third with 134 patients. That is why the Ministry of Health has generated a list of 24 counties with higher risk for you to take precautions:
