The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Costa Rica’s favorite goalie, Keylor Navas, was appointed as a tourism ambassador for the country by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT).
The award was presented by the Minister of Tourism, Wilhelm von Breymann, at the FITUR tourism fair held in Madrid, Spain, ranked as one of the largest in the world.
The Minister indicated that Navas was chosen as a tourism ambassador thanks to the positive image of Costa Rica that the Real Madrid goalkeeper has presented to the world.
“I feel very proud and happy to be here in Spain and represent my country as a tourism ambassador, which I assume willingly and with great responsibility, because there is so much to reveal about Costa Rica,” said Navas in a statement.
Last year represented the highest influx of Spanish tourists who visited Costa Rica. During 2014, 54,412 Spaniards entered the country according to figures from the ICT. (Amelia Rueda)
