The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Tourism entrepreneurs in Costa Rica reported today that they expect hotel occupancy for the month of December to be at least 78% during the high season.
The National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur) indicated that the data is apparent from a survey of 134 companies across the country, in order to determine the expected occupancy for the period from December 13 to January 5.
The survey found that so far confirmed hotel bookings are at 60% occupancy.
“With the start of the high season in our country, a greater demand for tourism services from foreigners is presented, but it is also largely driven by the Costa Ricans because many have holidays,” said Canatur President, Isabel Vargas.
Vargas said the goal is to beat an occupation of 74% between December 2012 and early January 2013.
Tourism is one of the best stimulants for the economy of Costa Rica, which is visited each year by about 2.1 million tourists. (EFE)
