The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – This weekend, come to Quepos where they’ll have a ceviche festival to attract tourists and introduce them to the plethora of fish available in the area.
The event was organized by the Costa Rican Institute of Pacific Ports (INCOP), Jorge Figueroa of the Costa Rican Chamber of Restaurants (caCORE), Erick Asch of the Travel Show Expo, and CEO of Pez Vela Marina, Jeff Duchesneau.
They were also assisted by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute and the Costa Rican Institute of Learning.
Erick Asch says the aim is for people to know and enjoy the Costa Rican cuisine and “identify with the Pacific seafood we have and to know the dishes as well as we do.”
He hopes that it will become a yearly event with different dishes, hopefully typical of Costa Rica and used to develop tourism in the area.
The festival will be held on November 15 and 16 at the Pez Vela Marina in Quepos. It will last all day, with free admission for all ages, and have ceviche tasting, concerts, children’s events and a film at night.
Figueroa explained, “Costa Rica needs to improve its innovation in the kitchen and ceviche. We want the chefs to innovate.”
He added that there are many different types of ceviche; some with peach, some lettuce and others with green banana.
“We also want people to know and discuss Costa Rica’s marine life,” he said.
Asch from the Travel Expo Show said that they expect about 600 or 800 people to attend the festival. (Crhoy)
