The name of the exhibit is “Living Collections”, and presents the identity of the ICE through objects and robots built out of the same historical pieces.

The objects property of ICE’s personnel who keep it as their own private collections and lend them to ICE for this type of activities.

One of the oldest artifacts in the exhibition is the Thompson lamp, in the shape of an open arch, which was used to bring light to San Jose’s streets in the beginning of the 20th century. Another “must see” is a phone central with a maximum capacity of 40 telephone lines, one of the first ones used in Costa Rica.

According to the ICE museum, the activity is addressed to collectors, College students, and whoever wants to learn about, and enjoy old technology.

“The goal of the exposition is to bring these artifacts to the minds of the people so they can remember good memories. For example, if an elderly person looks at a magnetic phone, he will remember the time in which he used those types of phones,” said Mario Rojas, of the CCTT.

Another important aspect that ICE wants through the expo is to promote the appreciation for the cultural and historical patrimony of ICE.

“It’s important for the tourist to know that, in this Cultural Centre, we can admire objects used in other countries also, so it will bring good memories, as well,” said Rojas.

The exhibition will be open to the public, during weekdays, until february 2012.
