A strong earthquake shook various parts of the country at 12:55 am The quake was felt in San Jose, Heredia and Alajuela some areas, according to the as far as Guanacaste.
The revised report Seismological and Volcanological Observatory of Costa Rica indicates that the quake had a magnitude of 4.9 Mw and the epicenter was located 2.7km from Palmares or 5 km east of San Ramon, with a depth of 69.8 kilometers and a distance 43.6 miles from San Jose.
Reports released last night by the National Seismological Network (RSN) reported that in the month of December there have been nine low-intensity earthquakes.
