Costa Rican mountain athlete Noyle Salazar Murcia was crowned champion of the 34th edition of the 2023 Chirripó International Race, securing her ticket to the Central American and North American Championships.
Noyle took first place in the 34-kilometer race, stopping the clock at 4 hours, 29 minutes, and 37 seconds. At the finish line, the national athlete commented:
“I was very happy. Although the terrain was very rocky and dangerous, I managed to reach the finish line without any problems, thanks to the good preparation I had with my coach.“
The race had 300 runners, including national and international athletes. This year, the Chirripó Race also served as the Costa Rican Mountain Running Cup Tournament, so the Costa Rican Mountain Sports Federation awarded the male and female winners in the senior category with trophies accrediting them as winners of this national tournament for 2023.

Let’s remember that Noyle Salazar is the first indigenous Costa Rican to qualify for and participate in a Skyrunning World Championship. Last year, she made history in Italy when she established herself as the best athlete in Latin America.
