The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Costa Rican government announced that in the coming months it will open an embassy in Ankara, Turkey, in order to strengthen economic and political relations.

The Costa Rican Foreign Ministry said that Turkey will also establish a reciprocal embassy in San Jose.

This agreement was reached today during an official visit to Ankara where Costa Rican Foreign Minister, Enrique Castillo, met with his Turkish counterpart, Ahmet Davutoglu, to reinforce political, trade, and cooperation agreements.  The chancellors discussed the need to strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries.

Other issues addressed by the officials were border problems between Costa Rica and Nicaragua, as well as how the future president will represent Costa Rica in the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).

Castillo also met with the general manager of Turkish Airlines, with whom he discussed the importance of taking advantage of the bilateral air transport agreement signed earlier this year.

The Costa Rican Foreign Ministry said Castillo finished his visit to Turkey with an invitation to the Turkishoreign Minister to visit Costa Rica.  ACAN-EFE
