The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – An Avianca plane made an emergency landing today in Costa Rica after a bird slammed into one of its engines.
The Airbus A320 aircraft landed safely at the Juan Santamaria International Airport, located just outside of San Jose, at about 14:00 local time (20.00 GMT).
According to airport sources, a bird entered one of the plane’s engines and could have caused damage, so the pilot decided to return to the airport they had just departed from, bound for El Salvador.
The aircraft was received by firefighters and other rescue authorities as part of the protocol followed for such cases.
The plane is being reviewed by mechanics to determine any damage. (ACAN-EFE)
