The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – This month 1,056 schools across the country were recognized with the Blue Ecological Flag and 399 won an honorable mention for their preservation actions in favor of Environment Protection.

The awards were granted by the Education Minister Leonardo Garnier, who congratulated the students and communities for their efforts and commitment to environmental values during a civil act that took place at the Culture National Center.

The schools obtained an Ecological Blue Flag because of positive actions they took in relation to water and risk management, environmental education projects, cleaning of spaces such as public restrooms and organized plans on waste and energy use.

Among the activities these schools undertook were recycling campaigns, plans for water and electricity saving, environmental art festivals, contests and environmental protection groups. LN
