The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Today the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) awarded 65 companies with certificates of sustainable tourism for demonstrating their responsible commitment to the natural and cultural heritage of the country.
The ICT stated thatthe certificates were delivered in the framework of the celebration of the World Tourism Day, celebrated every September 27 and established in 1979 by the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization.
Among the winners there are 37 hosting companies, 23 tour companies, three rental cars and two theme-activities centers.
With these awards the number of Costa Rican tourism companies that integrate the CST standard reach 299, which represent 35% of all the companies declared as touristic in the country.
According to ICT, Costa Rica has an international position as the first leader destination in ecotourism and sustainable tourism.
