The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The National Chamber of Tourism of Costa Rica (CANATUR) said in a statement that the classification of Costa Rica to the World Cup Brazil 2014 will be a great opportunity to promote the country as a tourist destination -as in the World Cup in Germany 2006 – and that travel agencies will be able to establish new business relationships and sell packages to attend FIFA World Cup Brazil in 2014.
Also, this will be an opportunity to expose the new country brand “Essential Costa Rica”. Costa Rica launched its brand “Essential Costa Rica” on 3 September, which aims to promote investment, tourism and exports.
According to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), 2,373 Costa Ricans traveled to Germany in June 2006, when Costa Rica participated for the last time in a World Cup.
Tourism is one of the engines of the economy of Costa Rica, a country with 4.5 million inhabitants and which each year receives more than 2.1 million foreign visitors, who generate 2,000 million dollars in revenues. EFE
