Salary adjustment proposal would benefit agricultural workers

This Monday a negotiation started to adjust the private sector salary, and amongst three proposals implemented by the worker’s representatives one is much higher than the others.

While the proposals of the Conferderaciones Sindicales and The Bloque Unitario Sindical y Social are 2.13% and 2.76% (respectively) for the professionals, The Worker’s Union  argued that the adjustment should start at a 3.5% overall increase and go up in the most vulnerable sectors, mainly agriculture.

This is justified for Aquiles Rivera, director of SITEPP Agricultural Affairs, who says these workers never make any real gains and must undergo strenuous and often dangerous work.
