Nicaraguan authorities maintained a yellow alert today (evacuation) in a province and green (preventive) in two others, including Managua, for the activity in which three volcanoes located in the “line of fire” in the Pacific.
Nicaraguan First Lady Rosario Murillo said through official media that keep the yellow alert or evacuation in the western province of Chinandega because of the possibility of a violent eruption of San Cristobal, that last Saturday saw three explosions with fumes gases and ash.
There is also the green or preventive alert in the provinces of León and Managua that record activities and Apoyoque Telica.
The President Daniel Ortega, will be holding the yellow alert in Chinandega, green in León and Managua, until the situation is completely normal.
According to the Government, the San Cristobal volcano and Telica, both in the Pacific of Nicaragua, reported emissions of gas, mixed with steam and a low intensity micro-seismicity.
The San Cristobal, a giant volcano at 1,745 meters, the highest in Nicaragua, reported three explosions with emission of gas and ash on Saturday, prompting them to leave the area around 1,500 people, most of whom returned this same day to their homes, according to official data.
Meanwhile Telica volcano, one of the most active of Nicaragua, keeps gassing, mixed with steam and sound similar to a turbine, said the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (Ineter) in its latest volcanology report.
The Telica, located about 125 kilometers west of Managua and height of 1,061 meters, recorded eruptions since 1527, though his last violent eruption was in 1948 and since then the crater emits smoke and roaring.
