The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Venezuela’s foreign minister, Elias Jaua defended the president’s willingness to eventually grant asylum to the Edward Snowden.
Jaua said asylum reflect his country’s respect on “a principle of international humanitarian policy”.
“All (persons) persecuted for political reasons have the right to be protected” said the chancellor in an interview with Venezuelan broadcaster Union Radio.
Maduro said that if Snowden requested asylum in Venezuela “almost certainly” they would give it and said his government has called on the world to protect Snowden.
