With three trips daily, one departing from Alajuela and two from the San Jose province, the Instituto Costarricense de Ferrocarriles (INCOFER) will start passenger services next Tuesday.
The first trip will depart at 5:00 am from Atlantic Station in San Jose to Rio Segundo, the second at 5:50 am from the corner of the University Alajuelense America in San Pedro, and the last, which leaves at 5:35 pm, from the capital to Rio Segundo again.
Institution spokeswoman, Maria Fernanda Arias, confirmed that this is a pilot scheme that will occur for four months to determine the demand of people and, thus, form permanent schedules.
Arias said that the initial plan can be adjusted before the estimated time if necessary.
The railway section of 12 kilometers was finished in late March and was inaugurated by President of the Republic, Luis Guillermo Solis, last April 11 when he gave his speech during the commemoration of the Battle of Rivas.
