The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Family vacation can be a hassle for parents and organizers if they do not know what their destination has to offer for both kids and parents, but there could soon be a certification for tour companies and hotels that specifically cater to families.

At the National Tourism Conference, international expert and director of the Federation of Large Families in Spain, Raul Sanchez, spoke about the Family Holiday Seal is being implemented as a pilot program in Costa Rica.

The seal will consider if companies and destinations have family activities and themes, regardless of size or nature. For example, they may be certified museums, destinations, national parks, hotels, restaurants, or airlines, among others.

In the pilot, six Costa Rica companies will be trained to achieve certification and later it may make the stamp available to all companies who so wish.

Costa Rica would be the first country in Latin America to offer the Family Holiday Seal.

For Sanchez, certification represents an opportunity for tourism businesses to generate more revenue, and because of the “stamp of approval” for families. (Crhoy)
