The Costa Rica News (TCRN) –Last Wednesday The German company Zollner Elektronik AG announced the opening of the first Latin American manufacturing plant as well as their support services in Costa Rica. According to CINDE, Zollner will invest approximately $ 10 million in the purchase of equipment and the construction of facilities, from which they will offer engineering services, research, development and support for the operation of the company, which is based in California, USA. In addition, the company plans to create 200 new jobs over the next three years, such as human resources, technical, manufacturing, and managerial positions. On the other hand, the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Minister, Anabel González, said that the arrival of Zollner is a “clear example of the diversification of the origins of direct foreign investment that Costa Rica has been able to attract”. The minister explained that from a total of 40 new foreign investment high-tech projects attracted in 2012, 33% came from non-traditional markets from countries like Japan, South Korea, India, Germany and Italy. According to the statement, Zollner Electronik AG is within the top 15 global companies in electronics manufacturing and is Germany´s most important company in the field.
