The Dreamcatcher Guest House, located in San Juan, Puerto Rico, was chosen as one of the top ten bed and breakfasts in the world by the trade publication, Bedandbreakfast.com.

“We started the year with a great achievement. We are honored to achieve this recognition that benefits the entire tourism industry of Puerto Rico at a time when our economy needs it most,” noted Sylvia de Marco, owner of Dreamcatcher Guest House, in a press release.

She said it is the first guest house on the Caribbean island of its kind to receive this recognition, awarded by a panel of expert judges and tourists who wrote reviews for Bedandbreakfast.com.

The publication lists over 11,000 of these guesthouses from around the world. Other countries that made the top ten are from Spain, France, Holland, England, Italy, Mexico, Norway and Portugal, among others.

Dreamcatcher Guest House, which has nine bedrooms and is located in the beachside suburb of Ocean Park, claims to be the only B & B in San Juan that offers a full vegetarian cuisine menu.

“The winners, including Dreamcatcher, are themselves a destination to discover not only a place to stay,” said Matt Laessig, general manager of BedandBreakfast.com in the statement.

The award comes to this center at a time when they are fighting to keep their hotel permit before the Appeals Court of San Juan, after the mayor of San Juan withdraw it due to rezoning form the Joint Rules of the Planning Board.

“We are defending our work sustained in law and the merits of our inn. We have shown that we fill a need for tourism in our country,” defended De Marco. (EFE)
