The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – Miss Panama has joined Miss Costa Rica and boycotts this year’s Miss Universe pageant.

Costa Rica and now Panama have joined Mexico pulling their contestants out of long running international contest, because of disparaging and some are saying “racist” comments about Mexicans.

On Saturday, the Miss Panama Organization as well as the Telemetro television channel announced they would not participate with the pageant which includes the broadcasting of the contest.
Associated Press reported that the country made the move sending “a message of solidarity” to Mexicans, after Donald Trump described Mexicans as drug-runners and rapists. Trump has further compounding his problems by not being able to admit the mistake and continues trying to justify his comments.

Over this past weekend, Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump lashed out at the reigning Miss Universe pageant winner from Colombia after she criticized his comments about Mexican migrants.

“Miss Universe, Pauline Vega, criticized me for telling the truth about illegal immigration, but then said she would keep the crown-Hypocrite,” Trump tweeted at around 5 a.m. Sunday.

Several GOP presidential candidates are distancing themselves from Donald Trump condemning the controversial comments.

However, this past week Donald Trump actually climbed in the opinion polls and dominated media coverage, despite the media backlash. Trump was showed up in first place in an average of 105 polls. Of the 14 candidates who have declared, Trump topped the Republican field with 13.6 per cent.
