The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Drug Control Police of Costa Rica (PCD) stopped an Italian man at the Juan Santamaria International Airport, close to San Jose, carrying cocaine diluted in two bottles of rum.
The man was identified with the surname Bertoni, age 41, and was arrested before he took a flight from Costa Rica to Madrid, said the Costa Rican Security Ministry in a statement.
“The two bottles were in checked baggage and both diluted to a total weight, including packing, of 3,432 grams with the cocaine,” said the official source.
The Italian faces charges of international drug trafficking, a crime in Costa Rica that is punishable by a maximum of 20 years in prison. (EFE)
