Landslide Closes Route 32 Near the Zurquí Tunnel

The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Ministry of Public Works and Transportation (MOPT) announced that a landslide at kilometer 24 of Route 32 has closed the road near the Zurquí tunnel (San José-Limón route).

Chief of MOPT Emergency, David Meléndez, said that a considerable amount of mud hindered three lanes of the four available on the road.

The National Roads Authority (CONAVI) is on the site. It is unknown how long the work will take to fully open the road.

Drivers of light and heavy vehicles that need go to the Caribbean can take the Turrialba-Siquirres route.
