The reigning beer company, Cerveza Imperial, opened their first branded bar within the Juan Santamaria Airport.
Cerveza Imperial just gave travelers a new incentive to arrive early for outbound flights. Located right in front of boarding gate number nine, the recently-opened Imperial Bar seeks to give Costa Rican travelers one last pura vida farewell before heading out to their next destination.
About Cerveza Imperial
Over the years, the yellow and red eagle’s call has become something of a national anthem for ticos and travelers alike. The logo symbolizes the German brewing tradition that was merged with Costa Rican vitality back in 1924 when Imperial first debuted.
Over 90 years later, Imperial can now be found throughout Central America, in the U.S. and even as far as Australia and China. It is considered the champion product of Cervecería Costa Rica — the nation’s national beer company.
More Than Beer
The new Imperial Bar will feature a portfolio of Cervecería CR beverages which also include: Bavaria, Pilsen and several artisanal-style beers. Travelers will also be able to purchase last minute souvenir apparel, glassware and specialty beer packs among other gifts.
Moreover, the bar was designed with already-nostalgic tourists in mind. According to Roland Carvajal, Regional Director of Food and Beverage for Cervecería CR’s mother company:

Anyone who has previously passed through SJO will agree, the bar provides a much needed “warmth” to the airport’s otherwise grey hall. Between the modern bar rail, the teak wood tables and the cozy armchairs available within the 90 square-meter space, there’s no doubt many fine stories will be shared at Imperial Bar.
