The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Arenal Volcano is one of the most interesting tourist attractions that Costa Rica has to offer. That’s why so many now use the internet to find travel packages taking them to this location. We are talking about a really impressive sight that is located in the middle of the Arenal Volcano National Park, which covers almost 30,000 acres.
Flora And Fauna
The National park is mostly rainforest, with 4 different life zones, harboring so much fauna and flora that you will need several days to visit everything. Now that Costa Rica is getting ready for the holiday season, you may want to visit Arenal Volcano as it is perfect with lower prices. You will be able to see around 75% of all the Costa Rica bird species, all nesting here and you will see many other animals like snakes, deer, sloths, or parrots.
The flora is equally diverse, including laurel, palms, cirri, guayabo de monte, ferns, bromeliads, orchids and heliconias, among others.
Arenal Volcano
Travel Tipsor says that the Arenal Volcano has not been active for around 3,500 years and its main crater is now filled with clear water. You can visit a park with many walking trails, open from 8 am to 6 pm and will love the fact that entrance fee is of just $6.
Accommodations
Most tourists will end up staying in the La Fortuna town, which is located 6.4 kilometers away from the volcano. It is not as exotic as a yachting experience in Dubai but it will make you feel as if you are at home, with great accommodations. Getting to La Fortuna is usually done through Ciudad Quesada or from San Jose (120 km away). The driving trip from San Jose lasts around 3 hours.
La Fortuna is quite small but it’s really warm and the locals will make you feel as if you are home. The location is perfect for access to the entire Arenal area. Amenities are world class because of the evolution of tourism in the region, with hotels inside the town and in the outside regions.
Activities
There are endless activities to keep you entertained. You can go horseback riding and even whitewater rafting on Penas Blancas, Balsa and Toro rivers. Every single one of the rivers is different in terms of scenery and intensity, even offering class IV rapids.
Various water sports can be enjoyed on Lake Arenal. This includes kite surfing, fishing and canoeing. You can go waterfall repelling and hiking, with a guarantee that you will want to take a look at the La Fortuna Waterfall; it’s a 70 meters cascade that is quite enjoyable.
On the whole, Arenal is a tremendous place that you will want to visit in Costa Rica. It is great if you want something different than what is usually included in travel packages and a destination that is usually not considered during the off-season. Take advantage of that, save money and have the time of your life.
