The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – International media has reported the arrest of Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman, top leader of the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico.
According to reports from foreign agencies, Guzman was arrested by U.S. and Mexican authorities in the state of Sinaloa in the Mexican Pacific.
The arrest was reported by a security official of the U.S. government time and further details about his arrest are unknown.
Guzman was on the run since 2001 and was the second most wanted criminal in the world by the FBI and Interpol behind Osama bin Laden.
Since 1980, “El Chapo” led the most dangerous criminal organizations in Mexico in recent years and controlled the drug market in much of the country, in addition to other sites in Latin America.
