The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – According to the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT), the country will be promoted as a destination for international companies to come for conventions, conferences and meetings, through an initiative to diversify foreign investment and attraction in 2015.
Tourism Minister, Wilhelm von Breymann explained that the promotion of Costa Rica as a convention location will start in March this year, with visits to international fairs in Mexico, Europe and the United States.
The chief of tourism said that the country remains a strong destination for vacationers, however they do not want to miss out on the convention niche, which injects mass amounts of income transfers, accommodations and meals.
Three years ago the ICT announced the construction of the National Convention Center, which is due to begin in the second half of 2015. The investment for the project is $30 million and will have an area of 15,000 square meters.
The ICT also maintains its latest campaign Save the Americans, which seeks to attract workaholics from Canada and the United States.
