The world famous Cirque du Soleil has started in Costa Rica, where they present “Varekai” for the first time in history.

The functions, which kicked off Friday night and will conclude on June 30, are almost sold out although tickets cost between 80 and $ 250.

The first show was a sellout despite the rain. The circus tent, located on a farm on the outskirts of San Jose, received no clearance when artists told their own version of the mythical story of Icarus.

“Varekai” in the Romany language of the gypsies, means “anywhere”, recreates 11 years this Greek myth, with variations in the style of Cirque du Soleil

In the show, Icarus flies to the sun and burn his wings, but instead of dying as in the original story, survives after falling into a great forest in which the story between amazing acrobatics and juggling, and of course, the inevitable clowns.

The ovation at the end of the first night will likely be the norm throughout June, with each performance of Cirque du Soleil. Those attending the debut night of Cirque du Soleil in Costa Rica came out with big smiles on their faces dazzled by the magic of Cirque du Soleil. Based on a report by EFE
