    SAN JOSE, June 9 — China is committed to work with Costa Rica advancing their friendship and relations, a senior Chinese official reported.

    The Chinese official, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Zhang Gaoli, spoke during a meeting here in San Jose, Costa Rica with President Laura Chinchilla.

    “China and Costa Rica had achieved fruitful cooperation in such areas as culture, education and technology, and maintained good communication and coordination on major international and regional issues”, he continued. China and Costa Rica have maintained frequent visits, deepening political ties and development in trade and economic cooperation.

    Chinchilla, saying Costa Rica recognizes the great importance to the continued development China-Costa Rica relations, and wants to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries in politics, economy advancement, technology and culture.

    Cooperation agreements were also signed during the visit.
