The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) has declared the region as a zone of peace, which was announced by Cuban President, Raul Castro, in the second and final day of the Summit in Havana.

In the announcement, Castro said the region is committed to resolving disputes peacefully and to forever banish the use of force in the region while fulfilling its obligation to not intervene directly or indirectly in the internal affairs of other states.

In addition, the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean agreed to fully respect the inalienable right of every state to choose its political, economic, social and cultural systems to ensure peaceful coexistence among the nations.

The document also reflects the commitment of the countries to make nuclear disarmament a priority to promote the strengthening of trust among nations.

The countries of the region committed to be guided by this declaration in its international behavior and urged the community to fully respect the text and the countries of CELAC.
