While some 50,000 passengers had bought Avianca-Taca flight tickets from Costa Rica to Los Angeles, New York, Quito or Guayaquil Havana, due to routing changes caused by downsizing and restructuring, they will now have to make stops in El Salvador or Colombia, according to Avianca-Taca.
The length of a direct flight to New York is five hours 40 minutes; it could take up to seven hours and a half.
Avianca-Tac call centers are working overtime to contacted about fifty thousand passengers to provide flight alternatives, said Claudia Arenas, international director AviancaTaca Communications .
Passengers who do not accept the change, they will receive a refund of your airfare “within a maximum of three weeks,” said the director Arenas.
