The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – A small plane crashed in a remote mountainous west of Guatemala on Friday, killing six men and attracting a crowd of villagers who carried away bags of cash, according to the fire department spokesman.
The plane crashed on a hill in the town of Nuevo Porvenir, 150 kilometers from the border with Mexico and was completely destroyed, the spokesman said.
Four of the victims were identified as Mexican-including the pilot-, fifth is Venezuelan. The nationality of the sixth person is unknown.
The spokesman, who asked not to be named, said he saw a gun in the wreckage and that the villagers were looting, carrying luggage and cash-in dollars and Mexican pesos, which was aboard the aircraft.
