    San José will be filled with Halloween activities this weekend. TCRN has assembled 15 options for your party pleasure.

    The capital of Costa Rica is known for fun-loving people. That´s why a lot — and we mean a lot of — of parties are happening in the next few of days. Read-up on all 15 activities before deciding where you’ll spend your Halloween.

    Thursday, October 29th

    The festivities kick off tonight at Jazz Café Escazú. Reggae Luvers with DJ Luiz Dubs will take the stage at 10pm. There will be awards of $300 each for the sexiest lady and the most original costume. Presale tickets run at ‎₡4000, and despite the costume contest, semi-formal attire is requested.

    Friday, October 30th

    The, beginning at 9pm on the 30th, Cadaver Exquisito in Club Venue will host a party until 4am. Cover is ₡4000, but at ₡12.000 you can enjoy an open bar. There will be a a Freddy Krueger Show and two rooms available for rent. Awards will go to the best and the worst dressed individuals.

    Another option is The Aloft Halloween Party in the Aloft San José Hotel beginning at 8pm. Big prizes will go out to the best costumes:

    • First Place: a trip to the Hotel Decameron Salinitas for two with airfare
    • Second Place: one night for two in Hotel Aloft San José
    • Third Place: a tour with open bar for six people.

    If you want to have fun while doing something good for others, check out the The Rocky Horror Charity Show in El Lobo Estepario which runs Friday to Saturday. This year the show will celebrate its fifth year in San Jose as well as the 40th anniversary of the original movie The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Doors open at 7pm, and the movie will be played at 9pm only for ₡4000. All proceeds will go towards the Punta Burica community.

    Saturday, October 31st

    Finally Halloween! The day we’ve all been waiting for.

    Lokoween will kick-off at 8pm and will continue to 2:30 am at Aura Club and Dancefloor. With two floors, each has its own ambience: the first floor, Charanga; the second, Reggae. Awards will go to the best costume, and women enter free until 9pm!

    The Freak Show Party at 8ctavo Rooftop, the 8th floor of Hotel Sheraton in Escazu, begins at 9pm. They invite you to get dressed up and attend a horror show, including a presentation in fabrics and lira and a contortionist. There will also be music by DJs Julie B and Le Roi Carmona. Cover is ₡4000 for women and ₡5000 for men.

    Then, at El Observatorio Bar, doors will open at 9:30pm with a ₡4000 cover. DJ Jose Fuentes and Carlos Guardamuz will host the event. They will have awards for the best costumes.

    The House of Nightmares at Rapsodia Lounge will open for your spooky enjoyment at 9pm, with music by DJ Gee and DJ Gabo until sunrise. There will be special decorations, surprises and promotions for beers and shots.

    From 9pm until 5am WeTheFans Party will take place in Hoxton Pub. Cover is ₡5000.

    The Haunted Fair by Jogo, in Centro de Eventos Pedregal will run from 6pm until 2am. The event will feature national music by Los Ajenos and international music by Alkilado. Also making their appearances will be El Rookie, DJ Maxx, DJ Tocuma, DJ John Scholt and Dj Jurgen Dorsam.

    At 8pm, El Sótano will host Los Cuchillos Party. This night Los Cuchillos will present their new album named Isla Macabro. There will also be special activities by pin-up girls. Awards will be available for the best costume and best pin-up. Cover is ₡4000.

    Unicorn Party: The Rainbow’s Dark Side will take place from 9pm to 4am in El 13. This party brings a costume contest which will be qualified by attitude, authenticity and how well the individual embodies the character of their costume. The public will decide the winner in each of the three categories. Of course there will also be music.

    Finally, The Darkness is Calling at Club Vertigo. Music by Melissa O, Stefan Zicker and Fredo Cortez will begin at 10pm. Cover is ₡10,000 with costume and ₡15,000 without it.

    Not a big spender or partier? Maybe these FREE activities are for you.

    The first one is Zombie Walk in El Parque Morazán at 6pm. Optional make-up artists are going to be at your service beginning at 2pm with prices ranging from ₡3000 to ₡6000 depending on the make-up.

    Get your spooks with ease by watching Frankenstein The Movie in Plaza de la Democracia from 6:30 to 9:00, a classic horror movie night. This night the Filmoteca Cine Arte will bring the version of Frankenstein starring Boris Karloff from the year 1931.

    No matter what your thoughts are of Halloween itself, this weekend brings plenty of opportunities to hit the town, party with your friends and get dressed-up just because you can. So get out there! Treat yourself to a few tricks, and enjoy this last week of October!
