The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – On Thursday, the Costa Rican Social Security board reviewed a comprehensive analysis of all the measures needed for same-sex couples to have mutual health benefits.
According to the financial manager of this entity, Gustavo Picado, this document contains three main components: the proposal for the reform of certain articles of the Health Insurance Regulations, an adjustment in the manual that is used to grant extensions to family and a set of guidelines for the implementation of these changes during the following weeks.
Once the board approves the reports, they will officially communicate the requirements, conditions, documents to be submitted by both heterosexual couples and same-sex couples. They expect this to be ready in about two months.
“Same-sex couples will be covered and will have the ability to access family protection. We hope to be ready in November,” Picado said.
