The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – A review of Costa Rica hotels in different parts of the country show lower demand for mid-year student holidays, but expect a rebound, and as well last minute local tourist booking are also lower. The data is from the Costa Rican Association of Tourism Professionals (ACOPROT).
Tatiana Cascante, deputy executive director of the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), considered that the end of the period exceed 68% average occupancy achieved in 2012. More optimistic was Luis Centeno, president of the Chamber of Tourism Osa, who spoke of a positive trend, possibly better than last year
“We’re not quite there,” said Alvaro Conejo, president of the Guanacaste Chamber of Tourism (Caturgua), referring to the demand so far. But half year estimated indicate with national tourist and there is a tendency to book at the last minute.
In La Fortuna de San Carlos, however, Leovigild Villegas, president of the Chamber of Tourism of the Northern Zone (Catuzón) said, emphatically, that the occupation is less than that of 2012.
The president of the Costa Rican Chamber of Hotels, Ruben Pacheco, attributed the low occupancy of the fall in consumer confidence in the economy. CRHoy
