Skip the taxi, and don’t worry about a designating a driver. La Carreta is the hop-on hop-off pub tour we’ve all been waiting for.

For just $8 a night, get unlimited access to San Jose’s hottest bars. Meet some friends along the way? Go ahead and let them pay only $2 for a one-way ticket.

Don’t worry about being left behind either. The La Carreta bus runs continuously every Friday and Saturday from 8:30pm until 2:30am. You can even follow the bus’s live GPS location online or on their app which is available for both Apple and Android.

    A Local Affair

[quote_box_right]DID YOU KNOW? Chepe is a common hispanic nickname for Jose. Therefore, San Jose is often called El Chepe.[/quote_box_right]

Carpe Chepe, the group responsible for this godsend, has just one simple mission: “We are a group of people that live and love San Jose, and want to share some of the cool spots that we’ve discovered through the years.”

This love of theirs extends to the local artists who designed the La Carreta bus: from Luis Guillermo Madrigal (a traditional ox-cart painter from Sarchi) to Gussa (an urban artist from the heart of San Jose). Watch the video below to see these craftsmen turn an ordinary bus into the masterpiece that is La Carreta.

The Original Costa Rican Pub Crawl

This weekend, in honor of International Beer Week, jump on Carpe Chepe’s special tour, the highly-rated “Original Pub Crawl.” Though the $20 tag is a little higher than their usual $8, all cover charges are included AND each of the four curated locations will greet you with a welcome drink.

[quote_center]“So glad my fiancé and I did the pub crawl. Marco was amazing and it was a great way to meet a group of people and tour the bar scene together with a local. Definitely worth it!!!” — Kurt E[/quote_center]

[quote_center]I can’t recommend this company enough. Not only was this a pub crawl, but a great city tour of San Jose as well… The Carpe Chepe guides with us all did a wonderful job giving us tidbits of history of the city and landmarks we encountered along the way.” — Manny C [/quote_center]

Need a little extra incentive? Use the promo-code “cheperocks” to book online and save $4.

    Something For Everyone

Even if you’re not a drinker, Carpe Chepe’s bilingual blog has information any anybody can appreciate. Whether you’re a young traveler or a local just looking to rediscover San Jose, they’re a resource worth checking out. After all, the locations featured on their blog are never sponsored, just tried and true favorites from the group.
