The Costa Rica News (TCRN) – The authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) announced that a second bean fair will held in Nicoya Park on Friday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Among the varieties that can be found are butter beans, black and red, Cabécar, Brunca, Chimbolo, Ungrateful, Panama, Cockerel and Turrialba.
The world’s largest producers of dry beans are Brazil, India, Burma, China, United States, Mexico, Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda and Argentina.
At the event there will be tastings, beverages and food, as well as live music, among other festivities.
The fair includes more than 300 producers, from 30 communities in the area, who dedicate nearly 500 acres to this crop. It is estimated that the production of beans in Nicoya is 10 quintals per hectare.
